News Item: June 5, 2007 (Chicago, Illinois) Artists, activists, veterans, military personnel, and documentary photographers join a historic project for peace and in protest of war. Chicago's Public Art Program, in partnership with artist Mark di Suvero, invited Chicago and vicinity artists, activists and veterans to create panels of original artistic expression about peace and/or protest for the Peace Tower. Over 150 have contributed to a collective involvement of activism and opposition to war. Military personnel, veterans, and documentary photographers have also submitted original digital photographs documenting their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan. The exhibit was from June to October 2007 at the Chicago Cultural Center. |
